What to expect
Before, during and after your appointment
What the practice asks you to bring, and what happens if an operation is planned.
01
Getting a referral
An initial consultation requires a current referral. A referral from a general practitioner is valid for twelve months, and Medicare rebates are available with a valid Medicare card and a current referral.
02
What to bring
Your referral letter, any past or recent X-rays, scans and laboratory results, your Medicare card and private health fund card, and a list of your current medications.
03
If you live outside Brisbane
Dr Tollesson also consults at St Andrew's Toowoomba Hospital and at a monthly clinic in Townsville. Telehealth is available to patients residing in Medicare-approved regions.
04
If an operation is planned
You will usually be asked to complete blood tests, and an ECG may also be performed. A pre-admission appointment covers your health assessment and paperwork, and you will be told your fasting requirements, medication instructions and admission time.
