How telehealth works

WHAT TO HAVE READY

What you will need

Four things to have ready for the consultation. None of them is needed to send the form.

REFERRAL

A current referral

An initial consultation requires a current referral. A referral from a general practitioner is valid for twelve months; a specialist referral is valid for three months.

MEDICARE

Your Medicare details

Medicare rebates are available with a valid Medicare card and a current referral. Bring your private health fund card as well if you have one.

IMAGING

Imaging and medications

Any past or recent X-rays, scans and laboratory results, and a list of the medications you are currently taking.

LOCATION

Where you are seen

In person at Watkins Medical Centre, Level 10, 225 Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill, or by telehealth if you reside in a Medicare-approved region. What to bring is covered in your first appointment.

Consultation costs, Medicare rebates and likely out-of-pocket amounts are set out on the costs page. Medical certificates for you and your carer are provided at no cost.

THE FORM

Send your enquiry

Seven quick fields. No medical records are needed, a sentence or two about what is happening is plenty.

This form is for appointment enquiries only. Please do not include detailed medical records. Your details are used to contact you about an appointment and are handled in line with our privacy policy. If you have sudden weakness, loss of coordination, or loss of bladder or bowel control, call 000 now rather than using this form.

SAFETY FIRST

When not to wait for a form

Most enquiries are routine, and a one-day wait changes nothing. A small number are not. This is the list worth knowing.

Emergency symptoms

Sudden weakness in your arms or legs, worsening clumsiness, loss of coordination, or loss of bladder or bowel control can signal pressure on the spinal cord. Do not wait for a website reply: call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department now. If you are a GP with an urgent concern, phone the rooms directly on (07) 3870 3708.

Would you rather talk to someone first?

Call reception on the number below, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. And if you are wondering what the consultation itself involves, that is covered too.
